My Story

Welcome to We want you to know that we understand how difficult life can be without a vehicle, having had the experience ourselves. Although our charity's car-donation / distribution program was established in 1996, this new website was soft-launched July 4th, 2009 and was subsequently revamped and re-launched April 26th 2011. This site was designed to make the process of choosing who receives a free vehicle as fair as possible by providing a forum where individuals can engage the public and pro-actively pursue their dream of car-ownership. Although generating votes and attaining a higher page rank will very likely place your profile in a better position to be reviewed, the decision to award a vehicle is based on multiple factors and is not always based solely on who has attained the most votes as the applicant must qualify and genuinely be in need. Even if your page rank is lower than someone else's, you may receive a vehicle if your story is truly inspirational or if you have demonstrated a high degree of compassion and love for others, but again we must strongly emphasize that your application is more likely to be reviewed if you have a high page rank. Our hope is that everyone will embrace the concept of "paying it forward". By helping others who are even less fortunate than they are, our members create good karma for themselves. It is the proverbial golden rule and we are inspired by these acts of love and compassion. And remember, don't ever get discouraged and don't ever give up because although you may not have a high page rank in your state, you may be #1 in your city! (Sorry but city rankings are not made public & FCC netiquette dictates that you should never publicly disclose how many votes you have). STAY ACTIVE ON THE WEBSITE! Unfortunately, many times we must pass over members who have not logged in for a month or more and if only they had stayed active they would have received a car! Also you will notice car icons on the profiles of some of our members which denote that they have received a vehicle from our organization. These wonderful members remain active on the FCC website and represent only a handful of the many thousands of past FCC recipients. These beautiful souls are a valuable resource and we are truly blessed they remain as leaders and mentors of our Free Charity Cars community. If you are interested in learning more about the process, please feel free to contact these members for guidance (located on the “past recipients” page). You may have become a member of FCC to apply for a car, or to help a friend, but you may very well find that you have been drawn to this website for a much more invaluable purpose. Our website has organically morphed into a caring online community offering compassion and hope. The very act of daily voting for others creates good karma for you, and serves as an affirmation of love and hope for the recipient of that vote. Please be gentle and kind and always display love for your fellow members as peace in our world begins within each one of us. Observe the golden rule: Do unto others as you would have them do unto you. Remember, we're all in this together...we are all one. Peace & joy, and trust me…the joy truly is in the giving… Brian Menzies CEO The Original 1-800-Charity Cars (DBA: Free Charity Cars)
